Michel Dennery is a civil engineer, Associate in Risk Management with an operational management experience of more than 20 years in gas and electricity networks, working for EDF and GDF SUEZ. He also served as the head of the media relationships department as well as the purchases and procurements department of EDF.
Throughout his career in his various positions he always thought in a risk management way, as in crisis communication while dealing with media, and while implementing QSE management in operational activities. He was one of the contributors to EDF’s very first risk management methodology during the 2000s to operate a real management through risks.
While in charge of implementing risk management for purchase and procurement, he developed a new supply chain to reduce risks and increase its performance.
He has been heading the risk management department of GDF SUEZ since 2006, before the merger of both companies. For him, every manager is a risk manager, and enterprise risk management is key for good risk taking. He said : “ Striving to better manage risks is one of the best way to ensure ones performance. Risk management is a good way to anticipate the future.”
He is also Vice-president of FERMA, the Federation of European Risk Management Associations, and Past president of CARM, the French association of Associates in Risk Management.
